Rhiannon Hoyle was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Edmonton-South on May 29, 2023.
She is currently a member of the Standing Committee on Alberta's Economic Future.
Member Hoyle co-owned and acted as business development director for a lab specializing in Compressed Breathing Air Analysis and medical gas testing used for oil field and hazardous environment workers.
She is an active community member and has served on many committees and boards. Member Hoyle was a publicly elected senator at the University of Alberta. She sat on the chancellor’s Executive Committee, the Indigenous Initiatives & Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, and as the co-chair of the USchool Fundraising Committee, which aims to introduce and connect students from socially vulnerable, Indigenous, and rural communities to the University of Alberta.
She is the Past Chair of ParityYEG, and currently sits on the Edmonton Public School Board’s Equity Advisory Committee.
Born in Trinidad and Tobago, she immigrated to Edmonton in 1992 and spent her extracurricular time assisting vulnerable populations and working in the inner city with Dr. Stephen Ramsankar, a UN Global Citizen and member of the Order of Canada.
She holds a degree from the University of Alberta in political science with a specialization in international political economy and international relations, and a certificate in globalization and governance.
Member Hoyle was the 965th Member to be sworn into the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
