Participate in meaningful work 

Reporting to the Supervisor, Public Services, the Public Programs Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of positive visitor experiences, including in the Visitor Centre and for visitors participating in public programs. This includes the development and delivery of public programs, support for special events and exhibit development, the day-to-day supervision and training of Legislature Guides and Visitor Centre Attendants and the evaluation of public program delivery.

You are a creative leader with experience in training and mentoring individuals in both the technical and behavioural components of interpretative program delivery. Your background includes the development and implementation of engaging programs and exhibits for a wide variety of public audiences. You project a professional and efficient nonpartisan attitude in interactions with internal and external clients and a strong commitment to client service and the visitor experience.

You have strong communication, writing and interpersonal skills combined with your analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Bring your excellence to the LAO 

Your background includes postsecondary education in history, museum studies, education or liberal arts. You have a minimum of two years’ progressive experience in public or educational programming, delivery of historical or cultural programs and knowledge of theories and techniques of heritage interpretation or cultural program delivery.

You bring past supervisory experience, which will allow you to oversee the front-line Visitor Services employees and provide training and mentorship.

You are proficient with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, word processing, databases, spreadsheets and Internet applications. Familiarity with audio/video equipment and electronics is desirable. Experience in the technical operation of performing arts venues is considered an asset.

You will bring your excellent client service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower salary.
