Canada Day at the Legislature offers free entertainment and activities for all ages to enjoy at one of the most picturesque places in our province, the Alberta Legislature Grounds.

Violet King Henry Plaza

Join us on Violet King Henry Plaza at the Main Stage for the singing of O Canada, performed by Rob Clark, The Edmonton Oilers official anthem singer!
Legislature South Bandshell
1 to 5 p.m.
The South Stage on the Legislature south bandshell will celebrate the richness of our province’s cultural landscape through the music and dance of some of Alberta’s best multicultural performers. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy performances all afternoon.

Enjoy Edmonton’s premier brass band the Brasstactics, plus jugglers, circus acts and puppetry performers roving throughout the Alberta Legislature Grounds.
Open House
12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
The Legislature’s Chamber floor is open to the public only on Canada Day. Ascend the grand staircase and enter the room where it happens! See where your MLA sits and marvel at the Chamber’s iconic architecture.
As well, stop in at the Legislature Library and look for strange objects like a 54-year-old hamburger.

Queen Elizabeth II Building
11 a.m. to 5 p.m.The Legislative Assembly Visitor Centre on the main floor of the Queen Elizabeth II Building will be open to the public on Canada Day. Visitors can enjoy the film Our People Our Province in the Pehonan Theatre, visit the Democracy Discovery Centre, shop Capital Gifts (Debit or credit only, no cash) and visit the Service, Ceremony and Tradition: The Diamond Jubilee Portrait in Alberta exhibit in the Borealis Gallery.

Food
A variety of food trucks and food stands will be stationed throughout the Legislature Grounds with snacks for all the hungry Canada Day party goers!

Come prepared to enjoy the day on the Legislature Grounds. Pack sunscreen, bug spray, and lawn chairs and be sure to dress according to the weather.

Getting to the Alberta Legislature
The best way to access the Alberta Legislature on Canada Day is by public transportation.Getting Here
Bicycle racks are available in several locations around the Legislature Grounds on Canada Day.
If you choose to bring your pets to the grounds, please ensure they are leashed at all
times. With the exception of service animals, pets are not allowed inside the Alberta Legislature Building or the Queen Elizabeth II Building.
