Rob Miyashiro was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Lethbridge-West on December 18, 2024.
He is currently a member of the Standing Committee of Legislative Offices.
Prior to serving with the Legislative Assembly, he was executive director for the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization from 2008 to 2025.
Member Miyashiro has also served on the Lethbridge City Council, acted as program manager for the Rehabilitation Society of Southwestern Alberta and as the director of the Blood Tribe Youth Ranch for Kainaiwa Children’s Services Corporation, where he was bestowed with the Blackfoot name “Aakaoko’si” (Many Children).
He has a long history of volunteering within the community and has served as a member of the following organizations:
- Healthy Aging Alberta (Community Leadership Council)
- Alberta Age-Friendly Community of Practice
- Pan-Canadian Age-Friendly Communities Reference Group
- Alberta Association of Seniors Centres (founding member)
- Minister’s Advisory Committee for Seniors and Housing
- National Social Prescribing Communities of Practice
Born in Lethbridge, Member Miyashiro is a third-generation Japanese-Canadian and Okinawan-Canadian. Rob has three adult children and three grandchildren, and he resides in Lethbridge with his wife Erin, along with three rescued cats and one rescued dog.
He was the 985th Member to be sworn into the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
