Julia Hayter was elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Calgary-Edgemont on May 29, 2023.
She is currently a member of the Standing Committee on Private Bills.
Prior to serving with the Legislative Assembly, Ms. Hayter worked as an education assistant with the Calgary board of education until 2023. She also held the position of community outreach specialist with Vecova and before that was a constituency assistant with the Legislative Assembly Office.
Ms. Hayter has worked extensively with election campaigns around the Calgary area and held the positions of chair and vice-chair on her children’s school council from 2017 to 2019.
Born in Edmonton, Ms. Hayter obtained a developmental disability certificate from the College of New Caledonia in Prince George, British Columbia. She loves spending time with her children and can be frequently found at the theatre enjoying musicals and ballet or in her garden.
She was the 964th Member to be sworn into the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
