Experience the excitement of live debate from the public gallery, arguably one of the best seats in the House.

Refer to the Assembly Calendar or AssemblyOnline to find out when the Assembly is sitting. Note that session dates are subject to change. Gallery seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. To reserve a seat please contact an MLA.

When Visiting the Alberta Legislature

Please note that shoes are required; casual apparel is appropriate and public washrooms are available.

Visitors with strollers, wheelchairs and those with mobility restrictions access the building through the ground level west entrance located off 107 street. Wheelchair accessible washrooms are located in the west hallway of the second floor.

Hearing-assistive devices are available on request in the public galleries during session.

Security Screening

Visitors to the Alberta Legislature undergo security screening upon entry.

Service animals are permitted

Service animals are permitted if they have passed an assessment from one of Alberta's approved service dog providers and their handler provides a service dog identification card. All other animals are restricted.

The Majestic Alberta Legislature

Situated on the high bank of the North Saskatchewan River, the Alberta Legislature is the centre of democracy in the province of Alberta and the jewel of downtown Edmonton.

Legislative Assembly Visitor Centre

Discover the engaging educational programming at the Legislative Assembly Visitor Centre.

Featuring the Pehonan Theatre, Borealis Gallery, Democracy Discovery Centre and the Capital Gifts shop, the Legislative Assembly Visitor Centre is located on the main floor of the Queen Elizabeth II Building. 

VISITOR CENTRE

The Queen Elizabeth II Building is wheelchair and stroller accessible. Guests will need to visit the security desk for elevator access to second floor events.

The entrance to the Queen Elizabeth II Building and the Visitor Centre is located on the west side of the building, facing Violet King Henry Plaza.

There is a bank machine in the Queen Elizabeth II Building and the Alberta Legislature.

 

Booking the Venues

The Legislative Assembly Office manages venues on the concourse and second floor of the Queen Elizabeth II Building. This includes spacious banquet spaces, reception rooms, meeting rooms and committee rooms that are available for booking by Government of Alberta and not-for-profit organizations.

Venues

The Government of Alberta manages spaces on the 11th floor. These are available for booking by Alberta-registered not-for-profit organizations requiring meeting-space rentals. Book This Space

Legislature Grounds

The Alberta Legislature Grounds are a gem.

Enjoy the gardens and the mist of the fountains in the warmer months. Skate under the seasonal lights during the winter. Discover cultural monuments located throughout the grounds all year long. There is something for every visitor to see and experience on the Alberta Legislature Grounds. 

 

Booking the Grounds

The Alberta Legislature grounds are a provincial landmark for all to enjoy. The outdoor space is available for booking by Alberta-registered charitable or not-for-profit organizations through Alberta Infrastructure.

The Legislature campus comprises more than 57 acres of land, spanning four city blocks from Violet King Henry Plaza to the south lawn.

  • Monday to Friday - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday - 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
